About

Hi there. Thanks for visiting our humble nook of the web.

I’m Kelsey, he’s Shaun. We’re two young folks with a passion for soaking up, drinking in, and celebrating the good stuff in life. Here at Happyolks, we want to share the experience of creating a wholesome meal and the happiness that inherently grows from it. When we make room in our lives to celebrate the good things growing, we honor the earth and each other by slowing down and rekindling connection after a busy day at school and work. This is the scene: Shaun on a barstool, my hands the sink washing something green, good music on pandora, and the world becomes very calm.

Shaun is my best friend. He’s a born creative, freak show athlete, and master ice cream maker/consumer. He takes the photos, although I have been known to double fist a spatula and camera as of late. We’re busy. It’s a team thing. He’s been a gracious, patient teacher. I’m the cultivator, cook, writer, yogi, and passport toting student. I live by the motto: I am seeking, I am striving, I am in it with all my heart (Van Gogh). Recipes are inspired on a whim by what comes in our weekly CSA box and from my collection of treasured cookbooks.

In the past 18 months, this blog has served as reinforcement that we are not alone; there are thousands of people in this big crazy world who share similar passions, interests, and goals. Together, we can be better, do better, and inspire new ideas and new ways to look at the world.

the good soup - I live with a very tall man too! And he eats way more than me, or at least, he did eat way more than me until I started catching up! That’s been one of my biggest challenges after having my little baby Oliver- trying to eat less of all the delicious things I keep making for my blog!

Lovely to have found you, Angela
